Our Story
About It’s a Family Thing!
We built IAFT because family life should not depend on one person quietly carrying all the remembering, reminding, planning, and follow-through behind the scenes.
What began as a search for help became a bigger mission: to build something that helps families share the load more naturally and make daily life feel a little lighter.
Why We Built This
Why we built this
It’s a Family Thing! did not begin as a theory about family life. It began as a real problem.
Family life often looks like chores, schedules, routines, appointments, and
responsibilities. But the deeper burden is not just the visible work. It is the invisible
work behind it: the remembering, the coordination, the follow-up, and the constant
effort to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
That work often lives quietly in one person’s head. Over time, it is what makes
family life feel heavy. It is also what many traditional tools fail to truly lighten.
That is the problem IAFT was built to solve.
Our Evolution
From S’moresUp to It’s a Family Thing!
The story started with S’moresUp.
When Priya was looking for a way to make family life feel more manageable, she found apps for pieces of life, but nothing that helped run family life as a whole. Stitching together multiple tools was not relief. It was another layer of work.
That gap led to S’moresUp.
Over time, S’moresUp helped hundreds of thousands of families bring more structure into daily life. But it also revealed something deeper: even with good tools, one parent was still often carrying the invisible labor. They were not just using the system. In many cases, they were the system.
That is what led to It’s a Family Thing! as the next evolution.
IAFT builds on the foundation of S’moresUp, but with a sharper focus: reducing mental load, making responsibility more visible, and helping families find support that fits real life.
The Deeper Problem
The problem we saw
The hardest part of family life is not always the task itself.
It is the work behind the work.
The survey and founder work behind IAFT point to the same truth: many parents are not just doing the household work. They are also carrying the coordination layer behind it. Nearly half of moms said they remind family members about tasks or responsibilities. Forty-one percent said they repeat or follow up to make sure things get done. Many said the household would stop running smoothly within about a day or less without them
That is why the issue is bigger than chores or schedules alone. The real burden is what happens when the whole system depends on one person to keep everything moving.
The People Behind It
Meet the founders
Priya Rajendran
Priya’s path into this work came through real family life.
When she became a single parent, the work of holding everything together became heavier, more constant, and harder to carry alone. Like many parents, she went looking for tools that could help. What she found were apps for pieces of life, but nothing that helped run family life as a whole. That gap led to S’moresUp, and later to It’s a Family Thing!
Priya brings deep product and engineering experience together with a clear point of view on invisible labor, shared responsibility, and what real family support should feel like.
Reeves Xavier
Reeves helped shape the company from its earliest days, working alongside Priya to turn a lived family problem into a larger product and mission.
His role has consistently been to connect what families live every day with the systems, language, and product choices needed to support them better. That has helped shape the journey from S’moresUp to IAFT, and much of the company’s thinking around mental load, shared responsibility, and family systems.
Together, Priya and Reeves built It’s a Family Thing! because they believed family life needed something more integrated, more humane, and more supportive than a pile of disconnected tools.
Frankie’s Role
Frankie and the Family Copilot idea
Frankie is part of what makes IAFT different.
Frankie is not generic AI dropped into family life. Frankie was shaped around real family needs and the very specific burden that many families carry: the invisible work of remembering, nudging, simplifying, and helping routines stick.
That is why Frankie is positioned as a Family Copilot. Not a replacement for parenting. Not a cold assistant.
A warmer support layer inside IAFT that helps families with the follow-through behind daily life. Frankie is built to feel human-centered, explainable, responsible, and trustworthy.
The goal is simple: help the system hold more, so one parent does not have to keep holding everything alone.

Our Belief
Our belief: families are fun, running one shouldn’t feel like a chore
That line sits at the center of IAFT for a reason.
We believe modern parenting is not meant to be carried alone.
We believe responsibility should not default to one parent.
We believe families do not need more pressure. They need support that helps daily life feel more shared, more visible, and a little easier to carry.
That belief shapes everything we are building:
The product, the starting paths, Frankie, the way we talk to families, and the kin dof support we want IAFT to provide.
Built for real family life
It’s a Family Thing! exists to help families share the work of running a home in a way that feels calmer, clearer, and more human.
